“Peace Queen” documentary wins TWO Telly Awards

“Peace Queen” a documentary produced in Tacoma in 2019, was awarded two Telly Awards  today in New York City. The “Peace Queen” was awarded a Silver Award for Social Impact and another Silver Award for Motivational television.

The “Peace Queen” documentary highlighted story of Melannie Denise Cunningham, who was awarded the 2018 Greater Tacoma Peace Prize and rebranded herself, the Peace Queen. She was chosen as the Peace Laureate in 2018 for her life-long work toward racial reconciliation. As a result of this honor,  Melannie was awarded a seat at the 2018 Nobel Peace Prize Ceremony in Oslo, Norway. A video crew followed her journey to Norway and highlighted the discoveries she made along the way about the meaning of peace is and how it can be fostered.

✌️ Peace Queen Screening (and Podcast Recording) at the Grand Cinema

On January 29, Channel 253 is hosting a free screening of Peace Queen, the half-hour documentary about Melannie’s trip to Norway as a recipient of the Tacoma Peace Prize.

The short film was made locally and aired this past weekend on KBTC. Here’s a trailer for the film.

We’ll be at the Grand Cinema for the screening. Afterward, there will be a discussion of the film that will be recorded for the What Say U? podcast with Audrey Cunningham, Melannie Denise Cunningham, and the filmmakers.

As usual, we give members first crack at RSVP’ing.
