Peace as an academic endeavor

The Peace Research Institute Oslo (PRIO) was our next stop.

The Director, Henrik Urdal, explained that PRIO was an academic entity devoted specifically to the study of peace in our world. The organization receives some of its funds from the Norwegian Minister of Foreign Affairs but mostly relies on outside funding.

Ever the doctoral student, Miss Melannie was right at home asking Director Urdal about the research conducted at PRIO. She learned that PRIO has been a leader in research focused on sexual violence during conflict as well as many other topics. Melannie asked the director about the topic of racial reconciliation and the Director responded issues surrounding race are highly complex. And he applauded the work she was doing at the grassroots level.
